…like you’re just not getting anywhere. I keep looking at other people’s progress on their blogs, and I just feel like I’m stitching and stitching but not getting anywhere. I started my rotation with the hope that I would be able to make good progress on several projects at one time. I am so inspired by people like Carol that seem to finish so many large pieces. But, I just keep looking at my pieces and feel like the two hours I work on them a night doesn’t seem to be helping any. I’m just feeling a little discouraged, I guess. I may be getting a little Just Nan-ed out too. With my RR, Baby Garden and Barnabee…I’m in the mood for something different. I really want to start stitching Mermaids of the Deep Blue with Carissa, and I also would like to start one of my samplers, like Mouline Rouge maybe. Speaking of samplers, I keep searching and hoping that I will find the Beatrix Potter Sampler up for grabs somewhere. I debated over that chart for too long and missed out. I also love the Sarah Moon sampler (photo above). I am wanting to add that one to my stash as well. I guess I’d better get a move on though before it isn’t available either.
My biscornu stitching is coming along, though which is good. And I will be stitching again on my Just Nan RR piece tonight. I started it on Monday night, then no stitching last night. I’ll get back to my HAED piece next Wednesday. Sorry I have no stitching photos tonight. Well, I’d better head off to stitch. Have a great rest of the week!

I am grateful for lunch with a great friend.
I always feel like I’m not making any progress. I have found that taking lots of pics help me to see that I really am 🙂

I think we all go through those feelings that we’re not making progress. I find doing ‘before and after’ photos makes a huge difference … even though it doesn’t look like you’ve achieved anything when you compare the two piccies you can see you have actually done a good chunk 😀 Hang in there … not everyone has the same amount of time free for stitching because of outside commitments – every stitch is a good stitch 😀

I know what you mean, Michelle. Don’t worry. I feel like that too. We don’t all have the same stitching time. There’s no way I could stitch 2 hours a day, even. Carol is indeed very inspiring, and sometimes I feel just like you when I see her wonderful finishes – where am I getting? But Carol has explained that she is fortunate enough to have a lot of stitching time. I have learned (and am learning, this is a work in progress) to conquer whatever feeling of inadequacy I might have. We are all different, thank goodness, with different lifestyles, different timetables… we are each at different places in our lives, too.
Sorry for rambling on. This is obviously something I’ve though a lot about, too! 🙂

What a gorgeous sampler !
What a gorgeous sampler !
Don’t worry I think we all have times when we feel like we are working on something and ever getting any place on it. I was feeling the same way till I picked up the 2 small pieces that I’m doing. I know getting them done will make me feel like I accomplished something.

Ditto to everyone’s comments. I love the Sarah Moon sampler you have pictured. I might need to get that one 🙂

We all have those feelings, like just the other day I was thinking…why do I even do this my stuff never turns out as glorious as other people’s….so see we all have the same irrational thoughts 🙂 LOL
But just look at all the things you get done! I’m always jealous of how organized and meticulous you are about starting a perfect household and celebrating each step along the way. I feel bad that perhaps I wasn’t in to that 11 years ago when I started out my marriage. I try to let my husband know that I love him and am grateful for him everyday, I think that is very important…but I don’t think we celebrated every month on our anniversary date – AND I can’t remember the last time I got fresh flowers! LOL! You keep your chin up GF, your doing a fabulous job at stitching and at life 🙂 {{Hugs}} P.S. I get jealous of Carol’s stitching too, she e-mailed me once and said, “Um…you have four small children. I don’t” that hit home for me 🙂
I have that Sarah Moon sampler and would love to SAL with you on it when you are ready!!! I found the graph paper just by googling the words “graph paper” and tons of sites came up – I just clicked the first site and wow, tons of grids! Enjoy!

Have that feeling all the time! I like to review my blog for older pictures of projects I am working on. If you want to see what draggin’ your ass on a project looks like, look for references to my mother’s afghan on my blog. It took four years. Sometimes it felt like 400!
If it helps, no one is judging you on your pace! At least, I’m not. I can’t speak for everyone. But I’m a pretty big judger. 😉

I know, I tried the rotation thing for two weeks and I felt the same way! I am now back to stitching my old way – the screaming rotation. I feel I make more progress that way. I’m almost done with Spring Violets and I should be done with Winter Wind. I guess we just need to do whatever works best for us! 🙂

I don’t think the daily rotation is for everyone. I feel the same way when I try to split my attention that many ways. I much prefer to focus on a single project for a week or so and then rotate. It feels like I get more accomplished that way, without having to switch supplies and projects so often. You’ll find what works best for you – it’s just trial and error. 🙂

Michelle 🙁 I’m sorry you’re feeling down about your stitching progress … I get that way sometimes too. Especially seeing people’s progress! Like Carol …. who is a stitching Goddess 🙂 I’ve tried the rotation thing, I’ve tried the monthly goals thing … sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I prefer working on what I want, when I want … but then again, that’s not all that great either … cuz I start a million projects then *lol*
Hang in there! this feeling will pass! You DO stitch beautiful stuff! and I see progress on your pieces all the time 🙂 How about putting the pics in a stitching wip album like mine? lined up next to eachother so that you can see the progress? it’s very encouraging!
Other than that, we’re all here for you! and remember, we’ve all felt that way at one point or another 🙂
Oh and for Mermaids … still waiting for my fabric here … so no rush on that one 🙂
hugs hugs hugs

Yep. I have so many WIPs right now, and nothing near completion… when I start to feel like I *need* a finish, I’ll stitch up a very small design LOL

Michelle, Don’t feel discouraged. I look at your blog and think what beautiful work you’re doing. Your King’s Garden is gorgeous! You have lots going on. I say we can only compare ourselves to ourselves because we each have to walk our own road in life. I went nearly 2 1/2 years without stitching a thing because of my health and got nothing done! Now I’m stitching like crazy!! 🙂 You’re doing great!!

I always feel that way! I just try to stitch a little everyday-doesn’t always happen though. You do beautiful work-don’t worry so much about the progress.

Michelle, if you email or phone Edna at http://www.emlis.com/quaker.htm she should have some BP Quaker Samplers left. I got one from her about three weeks ago and she told me she had five or six left then. She’s a really sweet lady. I hope she has one for you and I’d love to SAL with you whenever you start…
As for your stitching… please, please don’t feel like you aren’t accomplishing anything with your stitching… You have been an inspiration for me since I discovered your blog last August and fell in love with The Workbasket’s Bay Sampler… I have since visited your blog many times and I am always inspired and in awe of your lovely stitching accomplishments…
I too feel as though I am so behind everyone else in that I seem to have only finished smallish designs since I started stitching again 4 years ago, and it does make me feel a wee bit inadequate and depressed… but when these thoughts creep in I try and remember to tell myself it’s the joy in the journey I should dwell on rather than how fast or slow I’m stitching and I remind myself it’s not the size or intricacy of the design that matters… it’s the peace and contentment I find along the way… I seem to always put off starting the larger ones… fear perhaps? Who knows? lol
I did add the Bay Sampler to my stitchy stash… however, I have not started it yet… I still need to make up my mind on a fabby colour. I also love the Sarah Moon Sampler… 🙂
Anyway, I’m rambling here… but I just wanted to thank you and let you know… you and your stitching are an inspiration to me…
And I do agree with you about Carol’s stitching… I love to visit her blog… but like Isabelle and so many other’s said we are all different, and that’s what makes each and everyone of us special… 🙂

Sounds like there might be more of us thinking like you than you thought! I feel like you a lot about my progress .. especially when I look at my “I want to stitch this NOW” list! lol .. hang in there; I think you are doing wonderful!
and thanks for the info about the banner hanger you left for me a week ago .. really appreciated it 🙂

Hang in there. Progress is progress. I am a slow stitcher – for real – and never stitch as much as I’d like to.
It is just one of those things. My WIP list is longish & my want-to-do-it-now list is even longer.
Pick up whatever you feel like stitching & enjoy the day : )
