Hamlet

On Saturday we lost Hamlet. He had broken his leg due to a tumor inside the bone and x-rays revealed that he had bone cancer. We said goodbye to him Saturday afternoon and he said goodbye to us with a lick on my hand and a sweet meow. I find that the house is so quiet without him, and my heart is feeling very empty.

“Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet prince; And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”

Hamlet, Act V, Scene ii

I am grateful for my constant companion through the last twelve years.

  1. I’m so terribly sad for you. I lost one recently, and it hits you harder then you expect. Sitting at my desk, crying for yours and mine….

  11. Goodbye, sweet Hamlet. I know it’s hard to lose a pet; they are members of the family, our little furbabies. Life is so fragile. I’ll keep you in my thoughts. *hug*

  13. It’s a hard, hard thing to lose a beloved pet, and nothing will fill up that hole for a very long time. But I am sure you know that someday it won’t hurt so much and you’ll be able to think of him with a smile instead of tears. (((Michelle)))

  17. I’m just catching up on my blog reading and I’m so sorry to read you lost your Hamlet.
Our animals are such a part of our lives aren’t they and it’s hard when they go.
We just got a new kitten two weeks ago and he is already such an integral part of our family as those before him have been. I can’t imagine life without him though a small part of me already considers the sadness of that future loss.
Hugs to you Michelle, and best wishes for 2008.
