I have lots of things to show you today! I was productive this weekend and not only managed to get the rest of my shredding done (the last of three boxes), but I also marked a few things off my to do list. Most importantly, I finished stitching my block on Kathy’s RR. Kathy asked for a beach theme, and requested that one block contain a lighthouse. I chose to stitch Bent Creek’s The Lighthouse on Snapper Island (from the Summer Snapperland series). I made some changes, including making the lighthouse red and white instead of dark brown and white. I took out the sailor, and replaced him with the crab from Whalehouse (of the same series). Isn’t the crab cute? Here’s the whole thing so far…

I hope she likes it!
I was able to get back to stitching on Baby Garden last night. I got a lot done on the row I’m working on, but I am really going to have to stitch fast to get it finished this month (which is my goal). I’ll have a progress photo next time. Over the weekend I received my Silkweaver Fabric of the Month. This month’s pieces are Dust Blue and Summer Meadow.

I also received my fabric and embellishments to stitch Bent Creek’s The Red Thread series. My friend Sherri and I are going to be SALing on this beginning in January. I ordered the first two charts as well. And since I am nearing the end of my Shepherd’s Bush ornaments, I needed to get the silver charm for the last one – it’s a moon, so pretty! I stopped in at my LNS on Saturday and picked up one of the two threads I need for my last two SB ornaments (one had to be ordered), and while I was at it, I picked up the threads I didn’t already have for the first two Red Thread charts. I hope that you all like seeing the stash photos. I’ve caught some flack about them, and hope that most of you (like I do on your blogs) enjoy seeing them. I think the person that mentioned it was more pointedly indicating that I spend too much money on stitching, but whatever. I guess if you’re offended by my “extravagance”, you don’t have to look. So, here’s your warning…look away now.

And, since you haven’t had enough (or have you), here are more Philadelphia photos. I was asked if these were taken by me, and the answer is that some are by me, some from Eric. Eric is a wonderful photographer, and is much better at getting shots like the one of the Chihuly, which was in a dark room, with spotlights, and of course glass reflects. In this set, I took the photos at Elfreth’s Alley, the other two were Eric’s.
This is Elfreth’s Alley, the oldest continuously occupied residential street in America, dates to 1702.

Aren’t these the greatest houses? I love the colors.

We also went over to Penn’s Landing, and sat and watched the boats and watched the sunset. It was such a great evening. On our walk back to the car, we stopped at this little soda fountain called The Franklin Fountain. We both decided to have Cherry Bombs (chocolate ice cream in cherry soda). MMMmmmmm!

That’s all for today! Next time I’ll show you Valley Forge.
I am grateful for another productive weekend.
I love the building with the red and door and shutters. Doesn’t vintage architecture give you the coziest feeling?
I see you are starting the Red Thread series. I have been very tempted by this series. I think the designs are just wonderful!
As for your amount of stash – the more the merrier I always say – ENJOY!

That lighthouse is just perfect, tucked away in the top corner like that. Great choice making it red and white. It really stands out nicely! And that crab? Too, too cute!! I’ll add my vote for the picture of the red door and shutters! Very nice!

I love the lighthouse, and especially the little crab. My husband and I are into lighthouses, so those are usually the first patterns that catch my eye.
I’ve also been enjoying your photos of Philadelphia. I’ve lived in and around the Philadelphia area since college, so it’s always nice to see photos of familiar places.
And I love the Baby Garden Pattern – I was dropping something off at our LNS and saw it hanging on the wall. I knew I had to buy it, which is unusual because I don’t usually purchase things like that ahead of time – I like to pick things for specific themes and occasions, but I could NOT resist that pattern.

The first thing I thought when I saw your RR was how cute! the crab was. Love it. You’ll have to visit Philadelphia in June or December. The people who live in Elfreth’s Alley open their houses so you can see inside. A lot of them have original cabinetry and the places are so cute. The half house (9 ft. wide) was a real trip to walk through. I’m going to miss seeing them this December, but next year for sure!

Love it all.
Why would anyone complain about seeing someone’s stash? I throughly enjoy seeing someone’s stash. I too drool over it. If they don’t want to see it they can either not look or read someone else’s blog.

That crab is so cute…I love it!
And goodness…what stitcher doesn’t love seeing stash, even if it’s someone else’s?? I’ve put myself on a strict stash diet, so I’m having to live vicariously through everyone else’s stash hauls. The more I see everyone else buy, the less I want to buy for myself…in theory, anyway! 🙂

I love the finish – I’m doing a video project on lighthouses myself at the moment, glad I’m not the only one into them :o)
As for your stash – you just go ahead! I’m not buying stash myself at the moment, but I enjoy looking at what other people get, why be jealous (which is what this other person sounds like) – everyone has different circumstances, and I already have more than I can possibly stitch in this lifetime!
Actually, I think buying stash is very reasonable (even at UK prices!) compared to a lot of other hobbies. If I went to the cinema, I’d easily spend £10 for a ticket, popcorn etc and it would all be over in an hour and a half – for that money, I could spend at least 15 hours with a little project, plus I’d have the finished item to admire for ever – or to give as a gift, saving money on purchasing something. How is that extravagant?

I love the Elfreth’s Alley picture–that would be a perfect little house for a sampler. As for the stash–I love seeing everyone’s stash. LOL about the stash commenter who feels the need to evaluate your scandalous purchases! I got a kick out of the lighthouse block–I have those snappers also.
