Last Just Nan RR

2007 Finishes, Just Nan RR, My Nest, Papillon Mystery Sampler, Stitching / May 2, 2007 by Michelle / 34 Comments

Michelles RR 050207

I finished stitching Michelle’s RR last night. This is the last Just Nan RR I had to stitch on…so the RR is now complete! I looked forward to stitching on Michelle’s the whole time we’ve been doing the RR. It just looked so colorful and fun. I stitched Days 1 and 10. Above you can see Day 1, which I finished last night. And even though I know partridges do not have purple tails, and even though Michelle very thoughtfully wrote the correction next to that block, I still stitched it as charted – purple tail and all. I decided to check the Just Nan website to check the photo, and that’s when I realized there was an error in the chart…I just didn’t register it when I saw Michelle’s note. So, the purple came out, and now the partridge is appropriately colored.

Here’s Day 10 again, just so you can see this all together.

And here is the whole piece. Michelle is going to be finishing this into a bellpull, and as you can see she had us stitch Just Nan’s Twelve Days of Christmas WhimZis. So cute!!!

And, since I finished that up in record time last night, I stitched a little bit on my Mystery Sampler. Here’s how it’s looking.

Mystery Sampler 050207

I just love the colors on this and it is such a joy to stitch on everytime I pick it up. I’m stitching with Vikki Clayton threads on Silkweaver’s SandCastle – 32ct, I think.

I haven’t been sleeping well lately, and it may have to do with everything going on – just general busy-ness. We’ve been invited to another wedding in New York, two weeks before the Philadelphia wedding. So, we’re pricing flights to see if it’s reasonable to go. My great aunt is coming into town – well to Austin – this weekend, so we may be driving down to Austin at the last minute to visit with her either this weekend or next weekend. My niece has her very first loose tooth – so that is big news in our world right now. And Eric started back to school yesterday – he is almost finished with his second Masters degree, and only has a couple of classes left. With his illness last year and our wedding, these had to be postponed – but I am so glad he will be finished with them soon! We’re also altering my workouts again, to add in some more strength-training, and changing my walks as well. So tonight will be the first of the new workouts – wish me luck!

I am grateful for participating in and finishing an amazing Round Robin and all the wonderful stitchers I met doing it. My very first RR!

My neice just lost a tooth. She was guarding it carefully and when she went to the dentist, the dentist asked, “would it be okay if your tooth fell out while I was working in your mouth?” When my neice said okay, out it came. I don’t know how she did it, totally squicked me out just looking at it! 🙂 Love your mystery sampler!

I remember the day when my nephew learned for the first time he’d lose his teeth. He was so dismayed! How would he eat, smile… It was funny!
Your Just Nan RR looks great. I hope I remember about the tail as I wouldn’t know that a partridge didn’t have a purple tail!

Oh, I’ve been wondering whether you have or will post pictures of the quilts you’re working on. I’d enjoy seeing them.

Happy Sunday, friends! This piece was a mystery sa Happy Sunday, friends! This piece was a mystery sampler published in the first five issues of The Gift of Stitching magazine beginning in February of 2006. I started this in 2007 and finally finished it several years later, turning it into a ten year anniversary sampler for Eric and I. I chose my fabric based on what Carol of Garden of Stitches chose for hers. I ran out of one of the Vikki Clayton silks midway through this piece and @senoritastitches kindly lent me some of hers so I could finish (this was pre-Vikki returning to dyeing).

I really love this piece with its motifs and specialty stitches, so I wanted to share it for both #xstitchsamplersunday and #saltboxstitcherweeklysamplerpal - @carolfun53 has been doing her #xstitchsamplersunday for about a year now, so I highly recommend taking a look at all the beautiful pieces shared on that hashtag.

We started this piece last year on the only Friday the 13th of 2022 and I think I’ve worked on it a couple times since then. Really love this piece and happy to have it out again.
