May Day

May Woolly Tyme
Homespun Elegance
DMC, Weeks & GAST on 28ct overdyed linen
Embellished with brass butterfly charm
Finished 4/30/07

It’s May, and I have finished my May sheep blanket right on time! I only have one left, and then the year’s worth of blankets will be finished! Whatever will I do with that time? I might catch up on my Just Nan WhimZis…here’s the latest Limited Edition.

She is doing a series of four “spells”, this is Spring Spell. I also have the Mirabilia fairies I could stitch up too – well, three of them (Christmas, Halloween and Easter). And then there are those Shepherd’s Bush 2000 Years Ago ornaments I still have five or so of to stitch. Hmmm….sounds like I won’t be at a loss for something to replace my sheep blankets, huh?! As far as stitching goes, I haven’t actually gotten back into my rotation, but I think I may set goals for May anyway. We’ll see if that helps keep me motivated…

  • Finish Michelle’s RR (I should be able to finish this up tonight)
  • Complete June Woolly Tyme
  • Complete 1 WhimZi (I think I’ll do Spring Spell)
  • Finish Part 2 of Barnabee’s Quest
  • Finish 1 row of Baby Garden
  • Finish Part 1 of Mystery Sampler
  • Finish Part 1 of Mermaid Treasure Box (more on this later…aren’t you curious?)
  • Participate in HAED QS Wednesdays

Ambitious? Yes. Doable? Most likely. As much as I really want to start something new right now, I would also really like to get some of the WIPs on my list crossed off and finished.

Eric brought home some gorgeous pink roses for me on Sunday. These are called Latin Breeze. They went well with our dinner of Ropa Vieja and Cumin-scented rice. Mmmmm. We also got back to watching our Academy Award movies (as one of my 101 Things in 1001 Days goals). We were supposed to be watching All the King’s Men, but our DVD is defective and kept skipping back to the beginning. So, we watched the next one on the list – All About Eve. What a great film. When it started I said to Eric, “hey, isn’t Marilyn Monroe in this?” And sure enough, there she was – not a large role, but still there. So, we’ll try All the King’s Men again next and see if this DVD works any better. It’s been at least a month or so since we watched any of these films.

And, finally, here’s the question of the day…what is the difference between White DMC and B5200 DMC? I’ve noticed that a lot of the Just Nan charts call for the B5200 instead of just “white”.

Walk to Rivendell: Pippin realizes they’ve turned too far south as they are still in the trees. (Total Miles Walked: 52)

I am grateful for stitching with silks – I love them!

  1. Michelle, I have so enjoyed seeing your sheep blankets. They have all been cute and fun to look at.

The difference between DMC Blanc and B5200 is that the B5200 is a brighter pure white. It does not make a difference in a pattern if you use one or the other. At least that has been my experience. 🙂

I also saw your 10 lords a leaping for Arthemise – looks great – aren’t those fun little designs to stitch? 🙂

  7. I really prefer B5200, especially if you’re stitching a large area of white. It’s much brighter and sharper than regular DMC White. Just take two skeins and compare them sometime. I pretty much use only the B5200 now.

Love the blanket and the roses!

  15. Yay! What a cute sheep on the sheep’s blanket. 🙂

I love the frame for the new Just Nan LE Whimzi. Just wasn’t sure about the design on that color of fabric. I am sure that it will look fabulous stitched up, though. I still need to choose a spring design for my cubicle, before it turns into summer!

WOW only one more sheep blanket, your sheep will be warm all year round with the last one finished. Congratulations on ‘almost’ completing the series.
