Mermaids Galore

Mermaids 20of 20the 20Deep 20Blue

Thank you all for your wonderful suggestions on mermaids. I went and looked at some lovelies. I have several on my wishlist that I would love to add to my stash at some point (Emerald Mermaid is high on that list, as is South Seas Mermaid). But, it appears that the overall concensus was Mermaids of the Deep Blue. I have been in love with this piece since it was released, and actually had it on my 2006 goal list (yes, notice there is no official 2007 goal list). I have not yet stitched a Mirabilia, so I think this one would be a great one to start with. I pulled out my chart today so that I can officially start the planning process. I went over to the Mirabilia Fabric Viewer and played around with some options for fabric. My top choice, of those listed, was Silkweaver’s Ocean Fantasy. Now, the only problem with this fabric is that it doesn’t seem to be available from Silkweaver anymore. So, it may take me some more surfing around before I settle on something. I know that Carol spent a lot of time, and ordered several possible fabrics before she chose one for this piece. Another question, on these Mirabilias, is it better to order the embellishment pack that a lot of places carry, or just gather on your own? I am very excited to stitch this piece.

I have made no more progress on Lemon Meringue Sampler since you saw it last. I had a migraine, so no stitching. I have, however, made a little progress on my Queen of the Needle piece. I’ve been taking that as my travel project…so it has actually seen the light of day lately. A photo is forthcoming.

Eric I and went over to Mikasa today to purchase some of our crystal, and to update our registry. Then, we went out for Thai food tonight, scrumptious! I am hoping to get a little stitching in tonight, since I’ve been a slacker lately. Hope you’re all having a great weekend!

I am grateful for getting my nails done.

  1. Great choice!! They are also in my stash though not sure if I have the material. I may. I usually gather the beads and such on my own…

  3. Buy the kit. Off ebay if you can find it. Definately worth it, especially if you have the time.

Or you can always buy the full kit and get your own fabrics if it comes with something heinous.

  5. I personally think it is “easier” to buy the embellishment packs…BUT with that being said, I live in a town with 1 LNS….besides stuff like Hobby Lobby and Michaels (who have seriously downsized there needle supplies) So…I guess I’m biased. I agree Ebay is a good place to look. I’ve gotten some terrific deals from there.
Good Luck…I think you’ve chosen wisely…they are beautiful!

  7. I didn’t know you could buy embellishment packs but it seems like a good idea. Maybe do some shopping around and compare the price to buying all the required embellishments?

  9. Congrats on your decision. I will hopefully be starting this piece this summer. I can’t wait to see what you choose for fabric.
