I had a productive three-day weekend, in that I finally finished my block for Katrina‘s Neighborhood Round Robin. I love my block, truly love it. I just hope Katrina does. I love the way she’s laid out her piece. She requested that we go with a primitive look, where the house takes up a good amount of space in the block. She wanted the whole block to be filled, and wanted us to stitch our initials in our block using the alphabet in her block. She also provided tons of skeins of DMC for us to choose from in the color palette she’s chosen.
I had some false starts on this piece. I am always anxious about being the first person to stitch on someone’s RR. I had also chosen an LHN house and stitched most of it, then decided that it wasn’t working. The house was just out of scale with the house Katrina had stitched. So, I ripped out the LHN house and went back into my charts for something more suitable. The house I finally decided on is from Blackbird Designs – Garden of Life. Throughout the block I’ve made some modifications, mostly colorwise, from the original charted designs.

The willow tree is also from Garden of Life. I stitched in a bee skep from Elizabeth’s Designs – A House of My Own, because Katrina mentioned she’d like a bee skep. The flower in the pot is from LHN’s Liberty Hill Inn. The strawberry (which may be my favorite part) is from Birds of a Feather’s Peace. The birds are from Brightneedle’s Welcome, as is the heart. The crown is from Drawn Thread’s Sampler Gameboard, and the two blue motifs are from Blackbird Designs – Beneath the Sunlit Sky.
Whew! I figured it was ok to go for more of a sampler look, since Katrina had added a couple motifs herself. Anyway, I really hope she likes it and it is what she had envisioned for her piece. Now, I’m all set to mail this out on the 15th, and I’m excited to see what I get next.

The mail person brought another fabulous package for me, this time from Michele. Michele sent me an LHN Dear Diary chart, the Lucy Fairchild chart, as well as the fabric for it. I love it so much and am feeling so spoiled for my birthday. Thank you, Michele!
After doing so much brainstorming for Katrina’s RR, I think I’ve had a brilliant idea. I would really like to do a piece (possibly a RR) that is all Carriage House Samplings. I’d love to do a piece that is just filled with motifs from any of the CHS charts. Wouldn’t that be cool? I’m thinking along the lines of this fantastic RR that I’ve been drooling over, but with CHS designs specifically. I’ll put that on my “Brilliant Ideas” list for future meditation over.
Walk to Rivendell: Boggy land all around. Foggy. Merry meets them at the Ferry landing. As they reach the other side of the river, they can see a Black Rider on the west shore. Taking the main road north from the Ferry, Buck Hill is on the left and Buckleberry on the right. They take a lane to the right, and climb up and down into the country. Crickhollow – spend the night. “A Conspiracy Unmasked”. Leave Crickhollow soon after 6:00 a.m. Foggy. Ride ponies slowly. Enter tunnel under Hedge to reach The Old Forest. Path disappears (ca. 7:15 a.m.). (Total Miles: 75.75) – whew!! That was a lot!!
I am grateful for a phonecall from my good friend Pam.

Great job on your RR section! And I thought I recognized the house when I first saw it – I recently stitched it LOL! Very nice work incorporating the elements from different designers, that’s not easy to do 😀

Wonderful stitching. I love your Blog. I particularily like your Shepherds Bush JCS ornaments. I have started these also and did not buy enough fabric for the 9 I understand that they will design. Do you happen to have extra 32 count dark espresso linen that they call for? I have checked many online suppliers for it and the new stuff is a completely different dye lot- a gold/brown color. If there is a chance you can help me my email is bettyhein@excite.com . I will pay any price you want.

Your section of the NRR fits perfectly with Katrina’s primitive look. You’ve set an excellent example for the other stitchers to aspire to. 😀
