Things are never dull here at our house. Romeo somehow injured his back foot last week (it appeared he had a cut on one of the pads). So, we took him into the vet to have it looked at. The vet suggested that we do some blood work on him while he was there, since he is 11 and has never had any blood work done. For his foot we’ve been giving him antibiotics to make sure it heals well and does not get infected. Of course, giving those antibiotics makes for an interesting adventure. The vet called with Romeo’s blood work results on Friday after my last day at work. It turns out that he has diabetes. The vet gave me tons of information on what that means and what the treatment would entail. We will be treating Romeo with insulin shots twice a day, and hopefully with regulation of his blood sugar, he will be able to live a happy healthy life. He goes in to the vet on the 9th and will stay there for a couple of days so that they can get him stabilized and determine what dosage of insulin he needs. So, that is the story of Romeo right now. I have had a long talk with Othello and told him that he needs to stay healthy. Thank you for all of your well-wishes for Romeo. I think that it will be a big change, but I hope that it will be ok.
So, in stitching news, I am still working on my TW ornament. I’ve finished the center portion and am starting on the border. I’m all set for my new start tomorrow though. I’ll be watching the Rose Parade on TV, and stitching my new piece. What fun. I’ve chosen what to stitch for Annemarie’s Neighborhood RR too – I think I found the perfect thing. So, I’ll be starting on that soon too since it is due to be mailed on the 15th.
Since it is the last day of the year, I thought I would take a look back at the year and what I accomplished.
I stitched and finished 36 pieces this year (my goal was 35). I wanted to finish more larger pieces, but I was able to finish Lemon Meringue Sampler, my Just Nan RR, Their Song and Baby Garden. I did also finish my Woolly Tyme sheep blankets and my Shepherd’s Bush ornaments.
I learned how to knit and completed one scarf.
I finished my Kimonos quilt top.
I read 21 books – including re-reading all the Harry Potter books before the last one came out.
Eric and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary and our second married Christmas together. We took trips to San Antonio, Philadelphia and New York City this year.
I started my House into Home project and have made a lot of progress.
We lost Hamlet, but still have Othello and Romeo as our little family.
I crossed 13 things off my 101 Things in 1001 Days List.
I was laid off from my job, but know that something better is on the horizon.
So, all in all, not a bad year. I hope that 2008 brings many new and wonderful experiences. I’ve already mentioned my Plan for 2008 with regard to my stitching, so hopefully that will bring more finishes for me.
Here’s wishing you and your families a wonderful New Year! I’ll be back in 2008 (unless I finish that ornament, then I’ll post immediately!!).

I am grateful for all that 2007 had to offer.
Congratulations on all of your accomplishments, Michelle. I am grateful for the inspiration and your example of a positive attitude! I hope that Romeo’s diabetes situation is soon under control. Miss Marguerite sends him her best ~ she knows all about that blood work stuff. Happy New Year and all the best to you and Eric and the kitties in 2008!

Romeo will be fine after they get him regulated. I had a stitching friend locally that had to give shots to her cat like that. After a while the cat just came over to them when it was time and bent her head down waiting for the shot. He will be fine.
Our fur babies bring us lots of love, but sometimes can worry us and cost us $$$$.

You sure have had a year filled with many great accomplishments. A little adversity makes us stronger. I have enjoyed all your progresses and finishes this past year and look forward to many more beautiful pieces in 2008. Thanks for sharing

Awww – best wishes to you and Romeo. I hope he does well on the treatments and is feeling like himself again soon.
It’s so funny though – he looks so much like our cat, right down to the blue velvet tree skirt Romeo is hanging out on.

Best wishes for you, your husband and the fur kids. May Romeo cooperate with his medication–mine is falling a little short in that department. At the moment we’re pushing 6 different pills and a liquid medication down her throat, and she’s not particularly appreciative. Hopefully the little hiatus between jobs will make you feel happy and energized and not too worried (time off like that is a mixed blessing; I’ve been there–swinging from delight to having a bit of free time to despair that I’d never be hired again, which was in retrospect completely silly). And what an impressive list of accomplishments!

Wow – you have gotten a lot accomplished in the last year! Poor Romeo, he is not going to like having those insulin shots twice a day, but I’m sure he’ll feel much better after it.

Oh, poor Romeo! You sure don’t need this right now… I had a cat with diabetes and had to give him insulin shots twice a day. It is not that bad… {{{HUGS}}} Happy New Year (sounds weird saying that while also worrying about Romeo – just seperate the two thoughts, OK??)

Happy belated New Year Michelle! You had a great 2007 and though it ended on a slightly worrisome note. I know that 2008 will bring you joy and just the “right” job! I hope Romeo does okay!
