Yesterday I had my first knitting class. It was so nice to leave work at noon and head over to do something fun. Since I had already learned knit stitch, the instructor got me started on purl and I practiced some stockinette. Then, she had me do ribs. I will be practicing some more before next week, but I had a lot of fun. She had us use circular needles, so it was good to get the feel of those. She also suggested that I was probably ready for a project. So, after class I picked out a project, a “movie shawl”. I chose some beautiful cotton yarn that is really soft.

I’ll be practicing a lot more before I give this shawl a try since it will be knit double-stranded, but I can’t wait. I love the color yarn I chose.
Eric and I have started watching Firefly on DVD. I loved this show when it was on and was very disappointed when it was cancelled. So, I’m glad we’re watching it now. After we finish watching the season, we’ll watch Serenity, the movie. It’s been a rough couple of days, aside from my knitting class, so here’s hoping the rest of the week will be better. I could sure use a break. I’ve stitched a little bit on Tesori, so I’ll have a photo for you next time. All I can say is, I love red thread – any kind, cotton, silk, whatever. Red thread is just so pretty! I’ll probably stitch a little more on Their Song tonight as well. Hope you’re all having a great week!
I am grateful for new projects.
Your start looks wonderful! I love the color of the yarn:)
Michelle, You are going to love knitting!! It’s such a wonderful artistic expression. Just the look and feel of the yarns is so soothing and fabulous. I’m so happy for you.
Hugs,

Beautiful yarn! I just finished Firefly on DVD and then I watched Serenty. They were both so good, I can’t believe it got cancelled before it really started.
That will be a beautiful project! I love that color of yarn you chose! Kudos to you for starting a new hobby!
Good luck with your knitting classes 🙂
Love to knit, everyone received a scarf for Christmas ly. It is so relaxing. Where did you find your Academy Movie list? Would love to watch too. Gayle
A movie shawl? It sounds like a lovely project. I Googled it but couldn’t find a picture anywhere so I’ll be waiting eagerly to see yours.
Your knitting looks great! And what a wonderful idea to take time off during the week to go to a class.
Congratulations on learning how to knit, finishing your sheep blankets and the blocks for your kimono quilt, it will be lovely all sewn together. I hope you feel better soon and the migraines stay away.
Joanne
Congrats on the knitting progress! Try some of the Bamboo needles if you get a chance; I love the way they feel 🙂
Your kimonos are fantastic (can’t wait to see them put together!) and the sheep blankets are very cute! You are quite a talented needlewoman 🙂
enjoy your knitting. I’ve tried & wasn’t really very good at it. I liked the look of alternating the purl & knit stitch — I forget what it is called; however, it made a popcorn effect with the yarn. I think I gave up after a small square. But hey, enjoy : )
Pretty yarn choice, Michelle! Can you ask your knitting teacher how to unkink a new pair of circular needles, please? I’m having fits with the ones I’m using because they keep twisting around!
