Penny for Your Thoughts

Thank you for all the great comments on Garden of Eerie! I absolutely appreciate them. After finishing up GoE, I decided to turn my attention to my next Christmas ornament. I started this one back at the beginning of September and it became my travel project, so it didn’t get a lot of attention. But, I worked on it this week and now she’s finished! This is Penny Angel by The Primitive Needle from the 2009 JCS Ornament Issue. I stitched her on 40ct Daily Grind by R&R, because I had plenty left after stitching my Tulip Angel. I used the called for Belle Soies and Crescent Colors and added Belle Soie Oatmeal Scone for her dress. I needed something with a little more contrast than the Tumbleweed, due to my fabric change. This was a really fun stitch, and I’m so glad I finally got around to stitching her for myself. When I went out to take her photo this morning, I noticed how perfect she went with the fall leaves!

After finishing my little penny angel up on Friday night, I launched right into stitching my ornament for the guild’s annual exchange. I’m attempting to be ahead of the game! So far it’s turning out pretty and I can’t wait to see what it looks like finished, since I converted all the threads.

And I wanted to share a bit of good news with you all too. Back in August, I received an email from the editor of Cross-Stitch & Needlework Magazine saying that she’d like to feature my blog in their January 2012 issue in their “Fab Finds” section. Somehow August became the end of October and I got another email saying that the issue would be available November 1st and my blog was in it!

I can’t even tell you how thrilled and appreciative I am for the wonderful write up! How freakin’ cool is that?!?

I have to say though, this blog wouldn’t be what it is without all of you that come to visit me here and without all the other fabulous stitching blogs that inspire me so much. I discussed with another stitcher/blogger yesterday how small the world really becomes when you’re a part of this community and how fantastic it is to be able to enjoy a blog and then look to see what blogs they read – it’s like a stitcher’s referral system! If you like this blog, you’ll probably like this one too… How fun! So, thanks for stopping by, thanks for all of your support since I started this blog in 2006, and thanks for providing me with so much inspiration and friendship!

I am grateful for my stitching friends!
