Presenting…

The Kimono quilt top. I apologize for the dark photo, but it’s been raining here again, so I have little to no good daylight. I am so pleased to have the top finished. I started this quilt on March 13, 2004. I took a class at my LQS on paper-piecing and this is the quilt we learned how to make. I was able to complete one block in the class, so the rest were done on my own. The green one in the center was my first block. As I may have mentioned, all the fabrics were chosen individually. Here’s a closeup of one of the blocks, so that you can better see the sashing and border fabric. The sashing fabric is black with gold speckles, and the border fabric is black with gold outlined cherry blossoms.

I’ve been stitching some, as well. I finished stitching a gift (I know, shock, I never stitch gifts). I have been stitching along on my block for the Neighborhood RR and I’ve also made some progress on Tesori. It is difficult to get a lot of stitching in on this, since it’s a secret project. I may have to start sneaking downstairs in the middle of the night while Eric’s sleeping. But, here is my progress so far. As soon as I finish that inner border, I’ll be able to start stitching the actual block. This one is Veneto.

After knitting about three hours or so on my Homespun Wrap, I ripped the whole thing out. I have no problem with knitting, but if I’m purling I have to really pay attention to what I’m doing. Since I was also attempting to watch Sopranos, it got ripped out. I’ll start over again this weekend maybe. It’s pretty disheartening to have to do that, but as with my stitching, if it’s not right, I rip it out and fix it.

I am grateful for afternoon plans.
