Today I received my very first Silkweaver Fabric of the Month package. I decided to sign up for this recently to replace one of my monthly automatics that I had sort of lost interest in. I had been receiving the Essie’s Friends pieces from Elegant Stitch. They are so cute, and I have a ton of them, but I’ve only gotten around to making one so far…and really, how much stuff do I need on pink fabric? Here’s the one I’ve made up.

So, back to my lovely Silkweaver fabric…this is my first month’s shipment and I received Poltergeist and Elegance – both lovely lavender colors. The Poltergeist was quite a surprise. I had been eyeing this color for possible use for Martina Weber’s Japanese Garden. By the look of it on the website, I envisioned it being much much darker. So, that is one of the reasons I chose to do the Silkweaver FOTM – so that I could see some of their fabrics in person. I am so new to hand-dyed fabrics, that I wanted a chance to see them in person. I also wanted to chance to build up my fabric stash. So, here they are in all their glory…

The Poltergeist is almost a solid lavender. The Elegance is much more mottled and has sort of a gold in with the purple. Loverly! We went to pick up our wedding pics tonight, so not a lot of stitching will be accomplished, I am sure. We got our loose photos we ordered, but there were some issues with our album layout and our framed photos had not yet been framed. So, in about three weeks we will truck our little selves back out there. I may try to stitch a little on Quaker Garden tonight, and leave Bay Sampler until the weekend again.
I am grateful for Hamlet, who was so happy to see me when I came home today!
what pretty fabric, Michelle. Look forward to seeing progress on the LHN you’re going start too 🙂
FOTM is the best way to get to know fabrics! I’ve been on theirs for 2 years… and still don’t have enough..
I am still jealous about the fabric. :o) I just rec’d my Dusk Laguna from them and was thinking of the FOTM but I can’t figure out where I’m going to put all those fabrics once I pull ’em outta their plastic. Any ideas what you’re going to do w/yours?
And I LOVE your new blog look.
Lovely fabrics – can’t wait to see what you’ll do with them!
Wow, Elegance is a really nice fabric! I like the combinations of deeper purples and the gold. Yummy! I know you’ll find something fabulous to stitch on it. 🙂
I love Elegance its always been tempting to get fabric of the month!
I really like the elegance, but both are gorgeous.
