Stash & A Giveaway

Not a whole lot to show you today. I went to the doctor on Thursday and am now on antibiotics. I am feeling better, which is nice. I’ve been busy around the house this morning trying to get some things done. Eric and I bought some new everyday glassware for the kitchen, so I washed those and swapped out the old stuff with the new stuff. I took down all the Halloween decorations and put up my Thanksgiving decorations. While I was at it, I decided to hang up my Watercolor Log Cabin quilt. I figured since I’d hung the wedding quilt, I might as well hang this one too. This is in our home office, which also doubles for my craft room. It’s been folded up, so the crease should hang out. I also framed one of our photos from Philadelphia that is going to go in the entry way, Eric and I just need to hang it. I spent some time shredding old papers too this morning, a whole box worth. I just have one more box to do, but my shredder wasn’t up to it today. Then I went and got my nails done. I think that’s about it. I’m hoping to get a few more things done this afternoon, and I will have had a very productive day. I am taking my two quilts over to be quilted tomorrow. They probably won’t be done until January, but at least I’ll have done my part!!

My Just Nan Christmas Workshop piece came at the end of last week. It is going to be such a cute piece. One of these days I really need to work on all the Just Nan special pieces I have!

This cute new release was in the Hoffman email on Friday. I love this one! It’s Christmas Tea by Plum Street Samplers. Cute, huh?

And I went to my book club last night to discuss Portrait of an Unknown Woman. I am so glad I was feeling up to it, because it was a great discussion. We spent a lot of time discussing the painting above by Hans Holbein, called The Ambassadors. You could spend hours looking at all the detail and symbolism in this painting.

OK, so now for the giveaway. A friend of mine came across this bag of DMC at a garage sale months ago, and it has been living in the bottom of my closet since then. This photo doesn’t give you a sense really of how much is here. All the thread is in Flossaway bags. Leave me a comment on this post if you would like the bag-o-floss, and I will draw a name on Tuesday morning. I so appreciate all of you who continue to come visit me here and leave wonderful comments. I am hoping to get back to my blog reading now that the antibiotics are kicking in!

I am grateful for feeling better.

  1. I’m glad you got some antibiotics and that they’re helping out. Feeling sick is the pits.

Your quilt looks great hung up! 😀 And I love that new release, you sneaky enabler! 😉

Would you put me in the drawing for the floss? DMC is sort of like gold here in Europe. I’m more than happy to pay shipping, etc.

I’ve been lucky enough to see The Ambassadors in person as it hangs in the National Gallery in London – it’s an amazing work of art. You’re right about symbolism, although of course books are filled with symbols in their own right – it’s a bit of a thing with me as one of my classes has been heavily into semiotics this semester!

I’d love to be added to the DMC draw, but if I’m lucky enough to win you must let me send you something towards the postage!

  37. I’m so glad the antibiotics helped to make you feel better. Stitching is so much more difficult when you’re not well, isn’t it?
I love your quilt! One day I hope to have the courage/patience/sewing machine to start one myself.

Could you sign me up for the drawing please? Ordering DMC in the US and then having it sent to Europe is actually cheaper than buying it in the shop around the corner. Strange world…

One of the ladies I was with this weekend picked up that Just Nan piece – I almost got it but as it was at the end of the trip I decided I had already spent quite enough on stuff I would probably never get finished!

  43. That quilt is beautiful! I’m so glad that you went to see the doctor and are starting to feel better. 🙂 Isn’t Christmas Workshop yummy? I’m trying so hard not to succumb to starting, especially while Barnabee is still waiting for me to finish his journey!

  45. Hi: I’ve been a “lurker” on your blog for quite some time; as a fellow stitcher, I enjoy watching your progress and appreciate your finishes.

Please enter me in the drawing for the floss…one can never have enough of that!

    Feel better, and blog on!

  47. I’m glad you are feeling better Michelle! Your quilt is gorgeous.

I would love to be included in the giveaway if you are OK with shipping to Europe. As Barbara said, DMC is outrageously expensive here!

    Take good care!
