I haven’t even had my blog a month, and already I am slacking in posting! Well, let’s see if I can make up for it today. The past few days have been very busy as well as being bad allergy/ozone days. It has been at like a level orange for Ozone, yuck! Anyway, on Thursday I took my friend Sherri out to celebrate for her birthday and we went to see “The Devil Wears Prada”. It was a great film, and I would highly recommend it. I have not read this book and part of what turned me off about reading it was that I had heard it compared to Candace Bushnell’s writing (although I love the show, I hated her books). So, go see it if you get the chance! On Friday, we spent some time with my friend Pam who is in town from Reno, and had a fabulous time. We went and stuffed ourselves at Macaroni Grill…mmmm. Yesterday, we were off to the races. We spent the afternoon at Lone Star Park watching the horse races. I have never been to live racing, but I love watching the Kentucky Derby and races like that on TV. This was a lot of fun. We only bet on the last race, and thanks to Fast Leo, I won $28.80! Eric took some amazing pictures there too!

Last night we sat down and watched “Broadway Melody of 1929” as part of #36 from my 101 list, which is “See all the Oscar Best Picture movies”. So, I wanted to watch them in order, but the first one (from 1927/28) is “Wings”, and is not available through Netflix or through my local Blockbuster. I did manage to find it on eBay with Japanese subtitles, but decided against purchasing it. So, I moved on to the 1928/29 winner which was “Broadway Melody”. So, I am glad that I have started working on seeing these films, but I wouldn’t give this one rave reviews.
So, since no stitching has been accomplished in the past couple of days, here’s some stash that recently came in the mail…

I used my $15 off coupon at my LNS and splurged on Mirabilia’s Easter Fairy. I love, love, love the Halloween Fairy, but figured I should buy the older one first. I bought the Christmas Fairy during one of Stitching Bits & Bobs’ sales after Christmas. Also pictured here is my Blackbird Designs Strawberry Garden, which ONS #1 finally sent me. They had sent me Quaker Garden by mistake, so here is the correct chart. The thread is for Shepherd’s Bush “Shepherds Watched” and for my August and September Woolly Tyme pieces.
So, that’s all for now. I stitched a little bit on Bay Sampler last night, and hope to have a progress photo for you soon.
And, to answer Dani’s question, the Kimono pattern was purchased from my LQS and is called “Kimonos” and is by Betty Blais. It is distributed by Embellishment Village. Hope that helps!
Thanks to everyone who has read and commented on my blog, I really appreciate it!
I am grateful for good friends and good food!
I’m collecting the Mirabilia holiday fairy kits, too. I’ll be curious as to what she comes up with next, since she’s already covered Christmas. I’m guessing Thanksgiving, but it would have been nice to see some sort of summer design to cover all four of the seasons.
Lovely stash. I loved Christmas Fairy so much I had to buy it but to date none of the other faries have taken my fancy.
Thanks for the Kimono info!
