We Have a Winner!

Thank you all so much for your wonderful comments! It was so nice to see some of you come out of lurking to comment. I had my friend Sherri pick a name out of the coffee mug (it’s a big coffee mug) this morning, and the winner of the DMC giveaway is…. Nic! Congratulations, Nic. Please leave me your email address so that I can contact you for your mailing info!

The giveaway was fun, and I have a couple more planned for the future. I’m thinking I’ll offer something on my 250th post, which is about 20 posts away. So, stay tuned!!! The hard part of the giveaway though was that I wanted everyone to win!

So, what have I been doing? My antibiotics have kicked in and I am feeling so much better. I’ve been stitching away on Kathy’s RR, and hope to have it finished this week. Our next mailing date is Nov 15th, so I’d like to have in packed up to mail in plenty of time. I’ve also been taking all the quilting out of my quilt (photo above). I had started quilting it some time ago, but the quilting was terrible on my old machine, so I am picking it out and starting over. I thought I’d show you a closeup of this one, since I showed it farther away last time. This is a table topper, for Valentine’s Day. The center panel has this fabulous fabric that looks like a box of chocolates. Anyway, the seam ripper and I will get to be good friends.

I thought I’d pull out a couple more quilts to show you, since I am focusing on finishing up some things. The quilt below is my very first quilt. You may remember I told you that when I took my quilting class, I made two quilts – one of which was the bright one I showed you before. Well, this is the one I made in class. The fabric in the border has partridges on it, so although it is not traditional Christmas colors, I consider this a Christmas quilt. This one has been partially quilted, and I need to get back to quilting it. I thought I’d practice with the Valentine quilt, and then move on to this one. I won’t be pulling any quilting out of this one though, thankfully!

And finally, I have one more little table topper. I would love to have some more that are holiday or season-related. This one needs quilting too.

I think that those will keep me busy for awhile. I’d really like to be able to start on my wedding quilt in the new year. So, that’s what I’ve been up to. Oh, and making Taco Soup. MMMMMmmmmm!

Thanks for stopping by! Eric has to head off to South Carolina for a couple of days, so I’ll be stitching away on Tesori while he’s gone! Wish me luck!

I am grateful for getting those quilts out and making some headway!

  1. I love all of your quilts, Michelle…they are just gorgeous! I make wee table toppers…but I don’t piece them…I just use plain ‘ol seasonal fabric and sew it and quilt it with my machine. They look cute and seasonal for my seasonal tables.

Hurray for Nic and her winnings!

I hope Eric travels safely and that you can get lots of stitching done. Does he read your blog?

  3. Okay, you must explain taco soup to me because it looks delicious! This kind of weather, I’d gladly eat soup every day. I threatened everyone with barley soup tonight, but sadly, I’m the only one in the family who thinks its delicious.

Your quilting is GREAT!!! Thanks for sharing pictures of it.

  5. Okay, you already had me drooling with the chocolate-box quilt, but the taco soup has me running to the kitchen to cook up something too!

  11. Wow! I never win anything – you’ve made my day!

The quilts look great – I particularly love the colours in your first quilt, they would look right at home in my living room, but I don’t suppose you’ll run a giveaway for that LOL!

I love soup too – I’m going to make a big pot of spicy sweet potato soup today, the weather has turned a bit nippy and blustery, so it’s just the thing…

  19. I love all of your quilts! I really wish that I could quilt, but then I don’t need another hobby. LOL. That soup looks delicious, thanks for sharing the recipe.
