Thank you so much for tuning in to the Cozyegg flosstube/podcast! In this episode I share progress on a couple WIPs, my #dark13stitching projects, and what I’ve been reading. Music by BenSound.
WIPs:

Sarah Ann Banton 1833 by Cozyegg Designs – AVAS Soie d’Alger on 40ct Weeks Putty

Cecropia – freebie from Whistlestop Stitcher Designs – DMC on 40ct Zweigart Anthracite. I started this for #dark13stitching in August, but abandoned it because I wasn’t happy with the threads on the fabric.

Egypt Garden by Chatelaine Designs – silks, DMC, and Rainbow Gallery Petite Treasure Braid on 32ct Silkweaver Days Gone By
Plans

Moon Phases by The Little Stitcher – Weeks, GAST, DMC on 32ct Midnight Tryst by Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie – converted the skin and hair colors for the outer two ladies. Planning to switch to Moon Phases for #dark13stitching and to take a little break from Sarah since she’s giving me trouble.
Dark October Stitching

As always, Emily C (EclecticPosessions) and I host Dark October Stitching where we spend the whole month working on all of our favorite spooky, creepy, gothic, and macabre stitching. This is our fifth year of hosting both Dark 13 Stitching and Dark October Stitching, which seems crazy. Checking out the hashtags on Instagram is so inspiring and I hope you’ll join us with your own dark stitching.

On October 13th, the Haunted House Sampler SAL is starting for the Haunted House Sampler from Twin Peaks Primitives. This will be a fun way to celebrate both #darkoctoberstitching and #dark13stitching! Love that house.
Gifts

For my birthday, I received this gorgeous pendant from Bloodmilk Jewels called Night Creature. It’s based off an antique Art Nouveau piece and has tiny onyx stones in it that catch the light beautifully. I’m so in love with it and it will definitely not be my last Bloodmilk piece.

I also received these beautiful pieces made by my friends Mary and Karen. Mary made the beautiful raven needlebook and Karen made the beaded scissor fob. The speckled stones on the fringe are Dalmatian Jasper. So pretty, and I love that my friends know me so well.
Just beautiful. And I love the fabric used on the inside of the needlebook too, it’s perfectly spooky.

I gifted myself with this beautiful mini masterpiece from Forest Noir. This piece is called Poison Study. It’s about two inches by three inches and I thought it would be perfect for my haunted dollhouse.
Won’t it be perfect? She sent along some other goodies too – a postcard, a small print, and a bookmark of some of her other works.
Books
I started a new series, the Black Jewels series, and finished read four of the books. These are by Anne Bishop and came highly recommended by my friend, Annette. Books one through three are the original trilogy, book four is a prequel, which I decided to skip. Then I read book five, Dreams Made Flesh, which is basically four short stories, and one of them delves more into Lucivar and one picks up where Queen of the Darkness left off. Really enjoyed these and recommend.

My current read is Jane, Unlimited by Kristin Cashore. This was a book club pick for the Bury Me in Bloodmilk book club. I’m enjoying it.

And finally, I decided that for October I would focus on some #darkoctoberreading. I typically do this anyway, but thought I’d make it official this year. I’ve planned four books to read, but the above stack shows some previous favorites. For October, I’m planning on reading Practical Magic finally, Mexican Gothic, Tangled Webs (from the Black Jewels series), and rereading one of my favorite books ever – The Historian. I can’t wait to dive in.
