Product Description

The Death’s Head Planchette is the first in a series of planchette designs that was originally released as an exclusive chart for Dark October Sรฉance 2021 participants. The model was stitched using overdyed threads and DMC on 40 count Ale by Picture This Plus. The beautiful handcrafted board was generously provided by Homestead Needleworkes. The stitch count for the design is 74w x 95h.

The chart offers a DMC conversion for the overdyed threads used, but I would recommend using what you have on hand since so little is needed for this design.

This design features a Death’s Head moth, creeping vines, crescent moons, and the words “Yes” and “No” as a nod to the use of the planchette with a ouija board.

Planchette is a French word meaning “little plank”. A planchette is a triangular or heart-shaped tool that often had a pencil attached and was used for automatic writing. Planchettes have typically been used in conjunction with ouija boards (also known as spirit slates or talking boards) to communicate with spirits. These devices gained popularity during the Victorian spiritualism movement and were often used in sรฉances.
