Fifteen Friends – Jane Ann 1871

$28.00

Fifteen Friends is a reproduction of a beautiful Bristol Orphanage sampler and was stitched by Jane Ann in 1871. Jane Ann’s sampler features a multitude of motifs, including a red cow, along with alphabets in several styles, numbers, and even Roman numerals. The model was stitched on 56 count Hogbristle by Fox & Rabbit using Au Ver a Soie’s Soie Surfine 2523.

Product Description

The original sampler was stitched by Jane Ann on very fine linen (approximately a 72 count) and measures 11 by 10.5 inches.

The model was stitched on 56 count Hogbristle by Fox & Rabbit using Au Ver a Soie’s Soie Surfine 2523. When stitching the model, I chose to stitch Jane Ann on a 56 count to get as close to the original size as I could while still being able to stitch over two threads. I chose the silk color to give the sampler a more muted, aged look to match the antique. Three spools of silk were needed on 56 count linen (two full spools and just slightly into a third). The chart includes a conversion for DMC, Soie d’Alger, and 100/3.
