Henrietta Peever’s sampler is an English vanity sampler from approximately 1833/34. The model was stitched on 40 count Beeโs Knees by Seraphim using NPI silks and one DMC. The chart includes a full DMC conversion.

The sampler has been charted with an alternate over two verse. The original over one verse is also included. Stitches include cross-stitch over one and over two threads, satin stitch, and closed herringbone stitch.
Henriettaโs sampler spoke to me of those last days of summer, when you start to see the beginnings of autumn make their appearance.
The alternate verse reads:
The days of August,
when the sun is hot and
the breeze is warm,
and the days are
long and sweet,
and life is forever
a thing of promise.
The original verse reads:
Now in my early days
Teach me thy will to know
O God thy sanctifying grace
Betimes on me bestow
My heart to folly prone
Direct by truth divine
Unite it to thyself alone
And make me wholly thine
